International conference in the frame of project on “Raising Awareness on Child Development Accounts (CDAs) to ensure bright future of the children of Azerbaijan and start life brightly” was held in Baku by Azerbaijan Social Work Public Union in partnership with Center for Social Development Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, Next Age Institute, Azerbaijan State University of  Culture and Arts with support of The Council on State Support to NGOs under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
 
On 6 November, 2018 “Child Development Accounts: New Approach to Child Well-Being” the international conference highlighted general challenges in child protection, lack of child protection system, how to establish child protection system, child development accounts policy and practice, implementation of child development accounts in Azerbaijan. 
The conference hosted officials – Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts professor Jeyran Mahmudova, Representatives of The State Council on NGOs under Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Representatives of State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Economy, Head Office of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Advisor to the President of State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan OMBUDSMAN and international guests professor Michael Sherraden, Founding Director of Center for Social Development Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, professor Daniel Gottlieb, Deputy Director General Research and Planning Institute in Israel and Ms. Li Zou, International Director of Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis professional social workers from different countries such as Turkey, United States of America, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Iran, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia. Overall 20 international delegates from 10 countries participated in the conference.
Professor Jeyran Mahmudova, Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, Mrs. Aynur Sofiyeva, Deputy Head of State Committee of Family, Women and Children Affairs, professor Michael Sherraden, Director of Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis welcomed the guests and participants of the conference with an opening speech, Ms. Aytakin Huseynli, Chair of Azerbaijan Social Work Public Union delivered a speech on child protection issues, creating child protection system and implementation of child development accounts in Azerbaijan. 
Two panel discussions were also held at the conference. In the panel discussions, post-Soviet countries, Turkey, Iran and Mongolia representing countries have discussed the child development accounts policy, social services for children, money programs for children, etc.
